Accessible Australia
About Accessible Australia
An independent Australian information resource for access, participation and the practical decisions of everyday life.
Why this resource exists
Accessible Australia brings together practical guides to accessible living, travel, community participation and disability support. The aim is straightforward: help you identify useful questions, find reliable starting points and make choices that fit your circumstances.
Accessibility is personal. A feature that works well for one person may not work for another. Our guides encourage specific conversations about routes, facilities, communication, support and preferences instead of treating “accessible” as a universal label.
Our relationship to Companion Card
This domain has a history of Companion Card information, and many visitors arrive through older links. We preserve a clear path to that topic through our Companion Card guides and links to current official programs.
Accessible Australia is an independent website. We are not a government agency, the official Companion Card website, or the administrator of a Companion Card program. We cannot assess eligibility, issue a card, handle an application or access cardholder records. Companion Card® is a registered trade mark of the State of Victoria.
How we approach information
- Use official program sources for government rules, applications and program contacts.
- Distinguish general planning questions from eligibility or funding decisions.
- Link to the current source rather than republishing forms that can become outdated.
- Avoid declaring a venue accessible without information about the features and needs involved.
- Show dates on guides and correct material when reliable new information becomes available.
Launch articles are attributed to Accessible Australia as the publishing brand. This does not imply that an individual clinician, government officer or access auditor has reviewed them. Our practical checklists are editorial starting points, not professional assessments or verified venue audits.
Corrections and enquiries
Use our contact page for the current way to raise a website or editorial enquiry. For applications, card replacements, eligibility decisions or complaints about a program, contact the official state or territory service directly. Please do not send personal health documents to this website.
